The SmeSpire/SUNSHINE Challenge has been closed and the award ceremony has been held during the INSPIRE Conference 2014 in Aalborg (Denmark). The winners are GetLOD and HALE projects, and both of them have received a SmeSpire award during the INSPIRE Conference Gala Dinner on 19 June2014. GetLOD presents an open and reusable solution that allows an organization to publish geospatial data on the Web in the form of Linked Open Data, while HALE project presents an interactive tool for mapping custom schema into INSPIRE.
The 8th INSPIRE Conference is going to be held from 16-20 June 2014 in Aalborg (Denmark). The SUNSHINE project and its outcomes achieved so far will be presented during this event. Furthermore, the first SmeSpire Challenge to stimulate new business ideas originating from the INSPIRE implementation process, having geo-ICT SMEs as key players, is going to be concluded with the award ceremony.

The first SUNSHINE project yearly review meeting has been successfully held on 15 April 2014, in Trento (Italy), at Trentino Network’s headquarter. Apart from the Project Coordinator and partners, there have also been present the Project Officer, Ms Mercè Griera i Fisa, and two expert reviewers, Ms Anri Kaija Kivimäki and Ms Elena Granados Menendez.
During the review meeting, a project deliverables developed in the first 12 months of the SUNSHINE project have been presented and discussed in detail.
After a long and extensive discussion, we are happy to report an overall successful first review of the SUNSHINE project. We have gathered valuable feedback from the Project Officer which will be used in the future implementation of the project activities.
Future Internet Assembly – FIA Athens 2014 brought together key European internet stakeholders to reshape the future internet infrastructure for innovation.
More than 1000 European internet scientific and economic actors, researchers, industrialists, SMEs, users, service and content provider representatives attended and delivered new ideas, shared views, aiming at advancing activities for reshaping the future internet.
During the conference, 50 projects were selected to showcase.
Epsilon International S.A. participated as an exhibitor in the FIA 2014 conference, and had the chance to disseminate the SUNSHINE project to potential stakeholders and share ideas with other similar projects like FINESCE.
The first SUNSHINE challenge will be organized in cooperation with the SMESPIRE CHALLENGE 2014. The challenge is structured into two tracks: “Best Practices for INSPIRE” and “Open Source Software for INSPIRE”, encouraging submissions related to successful INSPIRE implementations in vertical application domains. The Awards for the SUNSHINE challenge will be presented during the next INSPIRE Conference in Aalborg Denmark, 16-20 June 2014, a great window towards European market and networking opportunities, organized in cooperation with the SUNSHINE project.
